I hope you were successful with your dowsing experiment. If you were, nobody is going to convince you that what you experienced did not happen, correct? It doesn't matter that there is no explanation, that conventional science has no clue as to what the forces are that cause the wires to move, or that your friends won't believe you if you tell them.
 
Keep this conviction you have with regard to your own experience in mind as we survey many other weird things that people experience. Others are as convinced of their experiences as you are convinced of yours. Just because standard science and materialism don't have sufficient scope to explain phenomena beyond the edges of their map, is no reason to reject them out of hand.
 
Since most of what follows will seem unbelievable, you must measure it in the context of the preceding chapters, the resource section at the end of this book, and pro and con information you can retrieve by searching names or terms on the Internet.
 
If you find evidence that seems to discredit some of what follows, that's okay. But also allow that any extraordinary event is going to be met with vigorous criticism. This is particularly so when such evidence challenges cherished beliefs, such as evolution, materialism, atheism, and manmade religions. Weigh the evidence, all of it, and decide from there.
 
Remote Dowsing
 
In remote dowsing, lines, figures, and shapes created in the mind of a sender are dowsed (received) by another person in the next room or thousands of miles away. Dowsing wires such as we described in the previous chapter aren't used; rather, the dowser receives the information mentally and writes it down on paper. The sender can be on the ground, in a cave, flying in an airplane, or closed in a Faraday cage (electromagnetic shield). The speed of information transfer is instantaneous, and the figures, lines, or shapes created by the sender linger in the 'dowsing realm' for years permitting them to be dowsed long after the sender has sent them. Such experiments are conducted by many researchers, including the engineers at the Dowsing Research Group in Britain.
 
Evidence That Supports Mind Influencing Matter

• Controlled scientific studies demonstrate healing using thought, touch, and prayer.
• Imagery alone can affect immune cell counts.
• Visualizing athletic training can improve performance better than actual training.
• Staring at one side of a person's face can increase the blood flow on that side of the face.
• Placebos can cure cancer and cause addiction. Thirty percent of a noncancer control group receiving a placebo ("sugar pill") in a cancer study lost hair.
• Caffeine didn't keep caffeine-sensitive people awake if they believed they were receiving a sedative.
• Some people can put needles through their body without bleeding, a fencing foil through vital organs without harm or pain, burn cigarettes against the flesh, handle live coals, and place hooks through the skin and then hang or drag heavy loads by lines attached to them.
• People have been reported to levitate, such as St. Joseph of Cupertino rising 20-30 feet in the air.

​Nonlocal Biocommunication
 
Leukocytes (immune cells) extracted from a person are kept alive in a test tube to which electrodes are attached. A tracing of the cell's electrical activity is made similar to the way a polygraph works. The person from whom the cells are taken goes miles away and is shown a movie that will have a disturbing personal scene. At the instant the person is shocked by the scene, the polygraph tracing of the leukocytes—miles away—shows a dramatic deflection from the flat line.

Cells, bacteria, plants, and chicken eggs show similar capabilities. In an experiment, six people were introduced to two philodendrons. One of the people proceeded to murder one of the plants by tearing it out by the roots and then shredding and stomping on it. The remaining plant was attached to electrodes, and the six people left the room. Then, one by one they were reintroduced to the remaining plant. The electrode tracing remained flat but then spiked when the murderer came into the room.
 
In another case, a woman who cared for a philodendron was asked questions while the plant was hooked to a polygraph. When the woman lied, the recording spiked.
 
Fresh beef meat was hooked to electrodes. When trimmed pieces were fed to a cat, the recording spiked. When the cutting board with blood on it was washed with Ajax cleanser, the recording spiked.

​Such action-at-a-distance, or nonlocality in response to a host's conscious state of mind, has been demonstrated repeatedly. This provides evidence that the implicit reality of which we and all other living and nonliving things are a part is one and unaffected by time or distance.
 
Group Intention
 
People joined in common thought and intention can affect health and even world events.

Acupuncture
 
This proven medical modality is not explicable in traditional materialistic terms. It relieves pain, heals, and permits painless surgery by creating anesthesia. Something besides material organs, tissues, and cells resides in the body.
 
Homeopathy
 
This medical approach was the prevailing healing system into the twentieth century. It has been largely displaced by more profitable patented pharmaceutics and allopathy (treating illness by removing symptoms). Homeopaths create remedies based upon like healing like: if a substance can cause illness, in minuscule dosage it can stimulate the body to heal. It works similarly to vaccines where a modified disease agent is used to create immunity against the disease caused by that agent. Remarkably, homeopathic remedies can cure illness even when the dose is diluted so much that the starting material cannot even be found in the end product. The remedy somehow mysteriously imprints on the inert carrier. Homeopathy has been proven in controlled studies and remains a predominant form of medicine in many parts of the world.
 
Healing by Touch
 
In repeated controlled scientific studies, mice that would normally die from induced mammary cancer within about seventeen days were cured by non-religious healing by touch. Attempts to induce the cancer subsequently failed. bengstonresearch.com
 
Hypnosis
 
Under hypnosis, people can see through people and identify objects held behind the back. Subjects can also experience taste, sounds, and pain experienced by another. Thousands of surgeries have been performed on people anesthetized with nothing but hypnosis.
 
Remote Hypnosis
 
Hundreds of cases have been reported of subjects hypnotized in a location removed from the hypnotist.
 
Magnetic Field Perception
 
Karl Reichenbach (1844), the German chemist who discovered paraffin, was the first modern-age person to study and verify the ability of a person to perceive the field surrounding a magnet.
 
Psychic Detectives
 
Psychics are employed by police agencies around the globe to help solve difficult cases. A television program series (on cable Court TV) demonstrates the usefulness of the ability of psychics to give detailed information about crime scenes, victims, locations, and perpetrators.

Reverse Speech
 
If a person's speech is reversed on a recorder, they will say things either confirming that what they have said is true, false, or what they are really thinking. The forward voice is the conscious; the backward voice is the unconscious revealing itself. A website, reversespeech.com, has numerous examples. The political speech examples are particularly telling. Although called a "pseudoscience" by skeptics, it has been proven to be reliable to the extent that the CIA and FBI use it.
 
Neimology
 
The placement of letters in a name can foretell a person's characteristics. Scientific studies prove the predictive value in human resource departments, understanding friends, parents, and siblings, selecting mates, understanding life's purpose, and in litigation to learn the leanings of judges and jurors.
 
Diagnosis/Healing
 
Some people can diagnose and heal disease from a remote distance without ever seeing the patient (called DMILS— distant mental influence of living systems).
 
X-Ray Vision
 
At the age of ten, Natasha, a young girl in Saransk, discovered that she could see inside of bodies. Since then, she has had people from near and far line up for diagnoses that have proven to be remarkably accurate. (Type "Natasha Saransk" in an internet search engine for interesting pro and con discussions of Natasha's abilities and the attempts to discredit her.)
 
Twins Connection
 
Twins raised apart from birth and with no communication between them were both named Jim by their adoptive parents. Both married a Betty, divorced, and remarried women named Linda. Both named their firstborn James. In childhood, each twin had owned a dog named Toy. They had enjoyed family vacations on the same beach in Florida and had worked part-time in law enforcement. They shared a taste for Miller Lite beer and Salem cigarettes. Just before their first meeting at the University of Minnesota, after having been separated for 39 years, each of them built a circular white bench around a tree in the back yard.
 
Pain experienced by one twin is often felt by the other. More than 30% of twins experience telepathic interconnection.
 
Absurd Coincidences
 
In Detroit, in the 1930s, a young man named Joseph Figlock was walking down the street. A young mother's baby fell from a high window onto Figlock. The baby's fall was broken by Figlock and both man and baby were unharmed. A year later, the very same baby fell from the very same window onto poor, unsuspecting Joseph Figlock as he was again passing beneath. And again, they both survived the event.
 
In 1883, Henry Ziegland broke off a relationship with his girlfriend who then committed suicide. The girl's brother was so enraged that he hunted down Ziegland, shot him, and then turned the gun on himself. But Ziegland had not been killed. The bullet had only grazed his face and then lodged in a tree. Years later, Ziegland decided to cut down the large tree, which still had the bullet in it. The task seemed so formidable that he decided to use a few sticks of dynamite. The explosion propelled the bullet into Ziegland's head, killing him.
 
Mark Twain was born in the year of the appearance of Halley's Comet in 1835. In 1909 he predicted he would die upon its return in 1910. He did.
 
In 1975, a man riding a moped in Bermuda was accidentally struck and killed by a taxi. One year later, the man's brother, riding the very same moped, was killed in the very same way by the very same taxi driven by the very same driver—and carrying the very same passenger.
 
In Monza, Italy, King Umberto went to a small restaurant for dinner. When the owner took King Umberto's order, the King noticed that he and the restaurant owner were virtual doubles, in the face and build. Both men began discussing the striking resemblance between each other and found many more similarities:
 
1. Both men were born on the same day, of the same year (March 14, 1844).
 
2. Both men had been born in the same town.
 
3. Both men married a woman with the same name, Margherita.
 
4. The restaurateur opened his restaurant on the same day that King Umberto was crowned King of Italy.
 
5. On July 29, 1900, King Umberto was informed that the restaurateur had died that day in a mysterious shooting accident. As he expressed his regret, an anarchist in the crowd assassinated him.
 
This chain of coincidences all happened in just two days: on the 28th of July the King met the restaurateur, and on the 29th both were dead.
 
Projections
 
Mind images have been reported to create physical effects. For example, projecting a crown of thorns, three nails, a cross, and a sword that was found imprinted on the heart upon autopsy. A person envisioning an angel piercing the heart resulted in a deep fissure in the heart. Another individual could consciously command images such as of dogs, horses, and words to appear on the arms, legs, and shoulders.
 
Multiple Personality Syndrome
 
When a new personality takes over, a drunk person can become sober, an adult drug dosage can cause over-dosage in the child personality, and an anesthetized person will awaken. Conditions that can vary from personality to personality include scars, birthmarks, cysts, right- and left-handedness, visual acuity (requiring the person to carry two or three sets of different glasses), eye color, color blindness, menstrual cycles to match each "new lady," voice pattern, diabetes, epilepsy, and tumors.
 
Psychokinesis(PK)
 
There are many documented cases of the ability to move physical objects with thought, as well as dematerialize objects and rematerialize them in another location. The Princeton University Engineering Anomalies Research lab (PEAR), founded in 1979, has demonstrated compelling evidence for PK. In experiments with random number generators, subjects were able to increase the machine's generation of ones or zeros using mental efforts alone.
 
Uri Geller fixes broken clocks with his mind. He even has listeners and viewers bring their broken clocks to the television or radio when he is broadcasting. He then proceeds to help the viewers fix their clocks using only their minds. (See urigeller.com)

Creating Radiation, Gravity, and Magnetism
 
Geller reportedly willed a Geiger Counter to read radiation levels 500 times that of the background radiation. He could also change the weight of an object while it rested on a precision weighing machine. By placing his hand over a magnetic field gauss meter, it would read a level half the strength of Earth's magnetic field.
 
Metal Bending
 
Metal bending is a form of psychokinesis. Uri Geller routinely teaches people via television how to bend spoons with the mind. A twelve-year-old boy twisted a large piece of metal out of shape at a distance of thirty feet. Jean-Pierre Girard in France bent pieces of metal sealed in glass tubes. Some subjects have bent metal that is beyond the strength of any human to bend, while others have turned a spoon "as soft as chewing gum." Others with these skills include Nicholas Williams, Stephen North, Julie Knowles, Masuaki Kiyota, Nina Kulagina, and many juveniles in England.
 
Sympathetic Magic (Telesomatic Effects)
 
Shamans, witch doctors, and spiritual healers are reported to impact the health and wellbeing of someone remote from them. This is done by just "sending" the signal or creating an effigy of a person.
 
Transpersonal Dreaming Experiments
 
A group of empathetic people chooses to dream help for a target person in need. The target does not reveal the problem to the group but loans each person a personal item to sleep with, such as comb, bracelet, key, etc. In the morning the group reveals the content of their dreams, only to find common themes and helpful guidance and remedies for the target. Eyeless Sight
 
One person sees well enough with the skin in the armpits to read notes and discern colors placed there. Another sees by clicking his tongue and echolocating.
 
Blind people discern colors. An autistic savant child who cannot read or write, correctly reveals five-digit numbers an out-of-sight mother views. (see: youtu.be/TRAPuMEpk4A)
 
Energy Fields
 
A woman could walk blindfolded through the woods and avoid trees by sensing their "energy fields." Some 97 different cultures have words to describe auras. Even famous surgeons, professors, and heads of departments in medical facilities, such as Cornell and Mayo, report seeing auras surrounding patients.
 
Time Slips
 
While at a location where a certain historical event occurred, many people have reported observing and experiencing the event. For example, one might be walking down a country road in Georgia, and all of a sudden be viewing a civil war battle exactly as it occurred in that location.
 
Astrology
 
French researchers have shown a correlation between the position of Mars and the birth times of exceptional athletes. Scientists elsewhere have duplicated the results. Other studies have verified astrological correlations to human behavior and traits.
 
Yawns
 
Out of vision and hearing, yawns (pandiculating) can be contagious. Human yawns can also induce yawning in animals.
 
Mind Changing Matter
 
The mere observation of quanta by scientists can change their behavior.
 
Telepathy
 
Transmitting and receiving thought has been well studied. In an American survey, 58% of respondents claimed to have experienced telepathy. Unlike other energies, telepathy does not fall off with distance. It is instant, exceeding even the speed of light barrier.
 
Psychometry
 
Psychometry is the ability to hold an object previously unknown and describe details of its history that could not possibly be deduced from the object.
 
Wraiths
 
Apparitions that serve as a premonition of a person's imminent death have been observed for centuries.
 
Remote Viewing
 
For twenty-three years, during the height of the cold war, people with the ability to perceive and describe distant locations were employed by the U.S. government (a 20 million dollar budget). This is known as remote viewing and is a natural ability of some and can be learned by others. (There are over 365,000 websites from around the world on the subject of remote viewing.) Distance from the target is not a factor. Former government remote viewers are for hire through the Monroe Institute in Ohio.
 
The CIA and other intelligence agencies around the world continue to use remote viewers for spying. The CIA's Stargate Project was recently declassified (January 2017) resulting in thirteen million pages of evidence of psychic phenomena and remote viewing.

Clairvoyance, Pre-Cognition, Premonitions, Presentiment
 
Participants in some studies successfully dream about a picture that would be chosen by others the next day. Others can describe locations experimenters would visit before the locations had even been decided upon.
 
Thousands of controlled laboratory tests prove mind is not tied to time or confined to matter. For example, study participants monitored similarly to lie detector testing will show an excitatory response prior to an exciting image shown on a screen. Scenes are randomly altered with peaceful scenes where no prior response is seen. (See Dr. Radin in Resources)
 
The famous 16th-century French seer, Nostradamus, wrote a letter to Henry II that was published in 1555. Therein he predicted the precise year of the French Revolution (200 years in the future), and other details related to it.
 
In 1625, the German, John Englebrecht, described the storming of the Bastille some 154 years in the future.
 
The American Civil War soldier, John Davis, foresaw war events that only came to pass after he had died. Jacob Burkhardt, Stormberger, Edgar Cayce, Heinrich Heine, Madame Blavatsky, Lanz von Liebenfels, and others made remarkable predictions about world wars.

Take the case of the young teenage boy that came up missing in the early '70s. Detectives were stymied, so they reluctantly decided to try a psychic. She identified John Wayne Gacy as the murderer and said she could see corpses buried in a semicircle. The officers got a search warrant and found the bodies buried in the crawl space exactly as described. They had stopped this serial torturer and murderer who had made victims of at least 33 men. But the young boy was not one of the bodies found. Another psychic drove around the city with an officer until she sensed where the boy was. They were by the Des Plaines River and she said the boy was under the ice and snow at the bottom of the embankment. The police were unable to access the area due to the winter conditions. In parting, the psychic handed the officer a piece of paper upon which she wrote the date, "April 19." She explained that on that date they would find the boy where she said he was. Months later in the spring, the station got a call that someone had found a body. It was the boy. He was where the psychic said and the date was April 19. Millions, along with me, watched this documentary broadcast on the cable Learning Channel, October 28, 2005.
 
Predictions, prophecy, and presentiment are to be expected since our underlying reality is timeless and holographically entangled with mind.
 
Everyday Occurrences
 
If the above extraordinary things seem doubtful to you, I get it, me too. Other than witnessing the events there's no way to be sure. But we must admit, given that mind underlies our reality, that virtually all things are possible, not just physical causes and effects.
 
The following more common things most people have experienced are just as fantastic as the above. If they are real, so too could be the preceding extraordinary phenomena.

• Singing or humming a tune somebody else is thinking about
• Thinking what others are thinking
• Think a question and someone else answers it
• Silent transference between therapists and patients
• Anticipating opponent's moves telepathically in competitive sports

• Transmission of images to another person by mental focus
• Milk leakage from mothers remote from a hungry baby
• Mothers awakening just before babies do
• Sensing when visitors are about to arrive
• Knowledge of another's sexual desire or infidelities
• Thinking of someone and their letter arrives
• Inducing people to call by only using thought
• Anticipating when an e-mail arrives
• Telephoning someone and they are on the line calling you
• Sensing what part of the body another is staring at
• Transference of feelings to the one being stared at
• Sense of being stared at by professional surveillance equipment
• Sense of being stared at through telescopes and binoculars
• Sense of danger if being stalked as prey
• Evil eye transference of bad fate to others
• Foreboding of death and disaster
• Waking just before the alarm is to go off or at a time desired
• Thirty-eight people reported seeing the 9-11 disaster in dreams
• Five people reported having 9-11 premonitions and presentiments

Life Itself
 
Life is an anachronism, a paradox, actually more like a miracle. Not only is the existence of its order, complexity, and information out of sync with the natural entropic flow of things (downhill towards disorder), but its moment-by-moment sustenance is miraculous. Something other than known physical forces must explain whatever it is that keeps life going. That something eludes our measure or comprehension, so we ignore it and proceed as if life is nothing but a clever engine requiring fuel. To do so requires that we gloss over the fact that this particular engine is self-aware, has free will, grows, reproduces, self-repairs, and self-feeds with no intervention.
 
For life to continue, there must be instantaneous (faster than the speed of light) and continuous communication between all of its trillions of elements and processes.

​Metabolism is described in textbooks as if it were sequential, occurring a step at a time. Although there is linear and cyclic activity, all living processes are entangled incomprehensibly with all other activity such that nothing proceeds in isolation. Life is better understood as being one gigantic dynamic, rather than a summation of individual events. It is irreducibly complex.
 
We need no evidence outside of ourselves. With every breath we take, life cries out that there is more at play in the universe than blind matter and energy.
