THE WATER MERRY-GO-ROUND
The oceans weigh 1,440 million billion tons. At the equator, that mass is spinning 1000 mph like on a gigantic merry-go-round.
 
The centrifugal force, better termed inertia, pulling the oceans away from the sea bed would be beyond imagination.

That doesn't include the compounding of the centrifugal/inertial forces on water as the Earth rotates around the sun, galaxy, and through space at 2.8 million mph. (See Part 3)
 
Some have said the oceans should bulge 14 miles high at the equator due to centrifugal force. Instead, the oceans are not only level there, there are islands in that area only one foot above water level.

For that matter, water everywhere on Earth remains level never showing any convexity whatsoever.

THE EARTH MERRY-GO-ROUND
The Earth weighs 15,400,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds (6.585 billion trillion tons) and is said to travel 67,000 mph around the sun.
 
That amount of mass traveling at that speed should catapult off into the great beyond.
 
 
GRAVITY WITH A BIG G IS NOT A SOLUTION
The standard answer to these enigmas is gravity. That is what is claimed to hold us, water, Earth, and all celestial bodies in place. But that stupendous feat would require gravity to be spelled with a big G, like for God.
 
But that God is inadequate for the job.
 
Gravity, if it even exists, is an extremely weak force.

The power of gravity is so small it would not even be discernable amongst the other forces coexistent and competing with it.  It would be less than the power of an ant carrying a grain of sand compared to the power necessary to build the Great pyramids.
 
Moreover, a gentle breeze making a ripple on a pond is stronger than gravity which supposedly holds the water level. And, a force (gravity) that can't stop hot air and helium balloons from rising, a butterfly from flying, or water from evaporating to form clouds is not going to stick quadrillions of tons of water to the Earth.

AN EXPERIMENT
You can show the power of centrifugal force over gravity with this simple experiment.
 
Fill a small pail half full of water. Swing it vertically round and round. You don't even have to swing very fast. At the top of the arc, the water stays in the bucket even though gravity, if it's stronger than centrifugal/inertial force in this circumstance, should make it fall on you.

But it doesn't. That proves centrifugal/inertial force can be greater than gravity.
 
Yes, speculative mathematics can show that on the Earth scale centrifugal force may not overcome gravity.
 
However, the Earth is said to be squished into an oblate spheroid due to centrifugal force. If centrifugal force is sufficient to reshape the 6.585 billion trillion tons of Earth-mass it would likely be sufficient to cause all oceans and all open water on Earth to fly off the planet into space. But that isn't even hinted at.

Even setting aside centrifugal force, if gravity is an insignificant force, as shown above, water on the bottom of a globe would fall off.
 
This, plus other compelling facts leads to a motionless Earth. Gravity does not prove otherwise.
