Childhood Infections Prevented by Probiotic/Prebiotic Combination 135 children between the ages of three and seven who had previously suffered at least three episodes of ear, nose, and throat, respiratory tract, or gastrointestinal illness during the previous winter were given a probiotic/prebiotic supplement for three months during the winter. The children who had at least one illness during the study was 25% lower than the children receiving a placebo.
Probiotics enhance immune function and prebiotics serve as fuel for certain probiotics, thereby enhancing their growth. The use of a synbiotic preparation decreases the incidence of common infectious diseases in children. (See Probiosyn™, Origins™) Ther Adv Respir Dis.
Correlation Between Infant Deaths and Vaccines Developed nations with higher infant mortality rates tend to give their infants more vaccine doses. For example, U.S. infants receive up to 26 vaccines (the most in the world), but more than six U.S. infants die per every 1000 births. On the other hand, Sweden and Japan administer 12 vaccines to infants (the least number), and report fewer than three deaths per 1000 births. The U.S. spends more on health care than any other country, yet 33 nations have better infant mortality rates. Some infant deaths attributed to SIDS may be vaccine-related, perhaps due to overvaccination. Hum Exp Toxicol. Organic Food and Neotame A new sweetener has been developed called neotame. Neotame, which is structurally similar to aspartame, is a neurotoxin, and appears to be even more toxic than aspartame. The surprising fact: unlike aspartame, the FDA does NOT require labeling of this ingredient on any foods, including USDA Certified Organic foods. Due to the cost effectiveness of neotame, it is likely that it is in many processed foods, including even organic foods. Neotame is also being used as a molasses substitute in food animal feeds. The only safeguard is to get to know the source of the foods you purchase and constantly rotate the diet. (See Sweet Sensations™) Farm Wars.
