Heart Health and Vitamin D
Studies by researchers at Warwick Medical School in England have found further evidence that people who get adequate vitamin D have a 43% lower risk of developing heart disease and diabetes. The best sources of vitamin D are skin exposure to sunlight and consumption of oily fish such as tuna, salmon and mackerel. (See O-Mega D™, Optimal™) Prepared Foods.
Ginseng for Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's patients who took supplemental panax ginseng (4.5 g per day) had a 15% improvement in their ADAS-cog score (Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale). Once the supplementation was discontinued, the scores returned to the original baseline. Longer-term trials are needed, but panax ginseng may slow or even reverse Alzheimer's disease.
